Description
Linalool is a colorless or very pale yellow liquid with a floral odor similar to that of bergamot oil and French lavender. It is a natural substance used to create fragrances and flavorings. Linalool refers to two enantiomers of terpene alcohol, found in nature, which is found in various flowers and spices. Terpenes are a large and diverse class of organic compounds produced by various plants. They often have a strong odor and can protect the plants that produce them by deterring herbivores and attracting herbivore predators and parasites. Linalool plays a major role in the anti-inflammatory activity exhibited by essential oils containing them, providing further evidence that linalool-producing species are potential anti-inflammatory agents.
