Description
Propylene glycol is a colorless, odorless liquid that is completely soluble in water. It is synthetic and is made by adding water to propylene oxide, which is obtained from petroleum products. Propylene glycol is used as a humectant, preservative, solvent, or emollient in a wide variety of formulas. Properties of Propylene Glycol: 1) Attracts water. At low concentrations, propylene glycol acts as a humectant, which means it binds water and hydrates the outer layer. 2) Lightly moisturizes. As a humectant, it also offers moisturizing properties.
