Asparagine is an amino acid that is part of the natural moisturizing factor (NMF) of the skin. In cosmetic formulas, it is used as a moisturizer, skin conditioner, and as a component for cell metabolism restoration. Asparagine helps to retain moisture in the skin's stratum corneum, maintains its elasticity, and protective functions. It can also improve the condition of dry, irritated, or aging skin. It is most commonly added to creams, serums, essences, and moisturizing masks.
