Description
Cocamidopropyl betaine is a surfactant derived from coconut oil and is a common ingredient in many liquid skin cleansers. Surfactants are cleansers that allow water to wash away oil and dirt from your skin, reducing the surface tension of water on your face. Some surfactants are harsher on the skin than others, but cocamidopropyl betaine is usually non-irritating. In fact, cocamidopropyl betaine is so mild that it is recommended internationally for use in foaming products designed for children, infants, and people with sensitive skin. It is often used in cleansers because of its thickening and foaming properties that help moisturize the skin.
