Description
Coco betaine (also known as cocamidopropyl betaine) is an amphoteric synthetic surfactant that is increasingly being used in cosmetics and personal hygiene products. Obtained by condensation of coconut alcohol with glucose. A mild surface-active substance used in skin care products, almost always as a secondary agent for cleansing and foaming. When used as a single cleansing agent, it is too mild to clean adult skin and hair, but in action with other stronger components, it is capable of effectively cleaning the scalp from contamination. Cocamidopropyl betaine can be of plant or synthetic origin, and any form is considered safe for use in cosmetic products. It also serves as an antistatic in hair conditioners.
