Cyclopentasiloxane

Description

Cyclopentasiloxane (also known as silicone-fluid) is one of the most widely used ingredients, synthetically produced, it is a derivative of silicone which provides various coatings for skin and hair. Cyclopentasiloxane is also considered to be an emollient, which soothes and softens skin, retaining moisture in a closed space. Silicone often acts as a hydro-isolating agent, smoothing skin and providing temporary relief. Cyclomethicone is favored by developers because it is easily spread over hair and skin, and the lubricant it provides is not greasy or sticky. Due to its low vapor pressure, it can easily be vaporized from hair or skin at room temperature and is therefore not prone to forming deposits or oily residues.
