Description
Panthenol, also known as provitamin B5, is the alcohol form of vitamin B5. When skin care products containing provitamin B5 are absorbed by the skin, the provitamin is converted to vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), which hydrates, soothes, regenerates and revitalizes the skin. As a moisturizing ingredient, provitamin B5 stabilizes the skin's barrier function, reducing the amount of water lost through the skin. This, in turn, improves skin texture and elasticity, making panthenol ideal for treating dry or rough skin. Mature skin becomes smoother and more elastic. In addition to its moisturizing and softening properties, panthenol also helps the skin to protect itself from external influences. When used, panthenol reduces itching, redness and suppresses inflammation. Hair consists of a part of panthenol, which allows the ingredient to penetrate deeper into the so-called cerebral cortex, as a result of which the hair swells slightly and creates more volume. In the skin and hair, panthenol is converted into provitamin B5, which keeps it moisturized for long periods. It also forms a moisture film on the hair strands, providing additional protection to your hair. Thus, panthenol has the ability to control the moisture content, while increasing the hair's resistance to damage and dehydration. Thanks to its moisturizing effect, panthenol can also give hair shine and prevent frizz.
