Description
Ethanolamine (also known as monoethanolamine or MEA) can be added to cosmetics for various reasons: 1. pH Regulation: Used as a pH regulator in cosmetic products: helps maintain an optimal acidity level (pH) which is important for ensuring the stability and effectiveness of the formula. 2. Emulsifier and Stabilizer: Can be used as an emulsifier, helping to mix different non-miscible components in the cosmetic product. Also helps preserve the structure and consistency of the product. 3. Softener and Moisturizer: Can have moisturizing properties, softening the skin, improving its texture and feel to the touch. It is important to note that some people may be sensitive to ethanolamine, and using products containing this ingredient may cause irritation or an allergic reaction.
