Properties of Glucose: • Moisturizes the skin. Sugar is a natural moisturizer, meaning it draws moisture from the surrounding environment into the skin. So when you apply products with sugar or sugar derivatives, they will actually help moisturize your skin and keep moisture locked in; • Refreshes and rejuvenates the skin. Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid, which penetrates the skin and breaks down the “glue” that binds skin cells together, stimulating its renewal and creating a fresher, younger looking skin; • Provides UV protection. Glucose is typically used to treat sun-damaged and aging skin. But it can be harsh on certain skin types; • Exfoliates the skin. Finally, the tiny particles of sugar are an excellent local exfoliant and are used in many body scrubs to slough off dead skin cells and reveal a healthier looking skin beneath.
