Description

Hexylene glycol is added to cosmetics and personal hygiene products based on its functions as a surfactant, emulsifier, and wetting agent that reduces viscosity. Surfactants are compounds that reduce the surface tension between two substances, such as two liquids or a liquid and a solid. In skin care products, surfactants emulsify and wet oils and fats, allowing them to be rinsed away. Thus, surfactants attract oils, dirt, and other impurities that have accumulated on your skin throughout the day and wash them away.
