Description
Hydrolyzed cornstarch is, simply put, the addition of water molecules to the cornstarch structural group using acid/enzyme/other methods. Corn kernels are the raw material for the production of cornstarch. Cornstarch contains a complex of vitamins B, phosphorus, vitamin A, manganese and some other antioxidants, including phenolic and ferulic acid. Hydrolyzed cornstarch is slightly different from regular cornstarch. It is mainly used for skin care. It has a tendency to swell when in contact with water. Thus, when used in a recipe, it can be used to increase the viscosity of the product. Since it has low moisture, it provides good binding or compactness of dry preparations. When applied to the skin, it also draws moisture from the surrounding environment and makes it available to the skin, and when applied to dry skin, it moisturizes the skin.
