Description
Hydroxyethylcellulose is an amino acid of plant origin used as a preservative, emulsifier and thickener in cosmetic products. Hydroxyethylcellulose is obtained from cellulose. Cellulose is obtained from lignin, ethylene oxide and ethylene chloride to obtain hydroxyethylcellulose. It is a water-soluble polymer that provides colloidal protection and can be thickened or diluted for use in various products. Hydroxyethylcellulose is added to skin care formulations mainly for its beneficial effect on the transferable properties of the solution. It does not have a direct beneficial effect on the skin itself. Hydroxyethylcellulose is a common ingredient in skin care formulations. It acts as an emulsion stabilizer, film former and viscosity enhancer. It is safe to use and improves the overall product characteristics.
