Description
Citric acid acts as an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) in skin care products. AHAs are well known for their use in the skin care industry as they are proven to reduce signs of aging such as wrinkles, lines, and dark spots. AHAs have also been found to stimulate collagen production. Citric acid treatments can lighten skin, reduce pores, treat mild acne, and correct dark spots and fine lines. When applied to the skin, citric acid exfoliates the top layers of the skin and removes dead skin cells. It also increases the rate of new cell renewal, which promotes the growth of new skin, and can help reduce the appearance of age spots, acne scars, fine lines, and areas of uneven tone and texture. Also, citric acid can regulate the PH level in cosmetics.
