Description

Paraffinum Liquidum, also known as mineral oil, is used in cosmetics as a moisturizing ingredient and to protect the skin from moisture loss. It is a colorless and odorless liquid obtained from petroleum that has the ability to easily penetrate the skin. Paraffinum Liquidum is an effective moisturizer as it creates a barrier on the surface of the skin that helps retain moisture in the layers of the skin. It also protects the skin from external factors such as wind and dry air which can cause moisture loss and dry out the skin. As Paraffinum Liquidum is hydrophobic (not soluble in water), it can remain on the hair and form a film which can prevent moisture from penetrating the hair. Additionally, Paraffinum Liquidum is not a solvent for other ingredients, so it does not provide sufficient action of other active components in cosmetic products on the hair.
