Description
Sodium PCA primarily functions as a moisturizer in skin and hair care products. As a moisturizer, Sodium PCA helps to keep the skin hydrated and can also help other active ingredients in skin care work better. PCA is a natural component of the skin's NMF. Restoring the skin's NMF is important because it is depleted with age and also due to the regular exposure to harsh components such as detergents and denatured alcohol. This leads to noticeably dry and sensitive skin. Thus, by using ingredients that help replenish the NMF, signs of aging such as wrinkles, dryness of the skin, will be reduced. As a result, the skin looks smoother, more hydrated, and more supple. It is known that Sodium PCA improves the appearance and feel of hair by increasing volume, elasticity, or shine of the hair or by improving the texture of hair that is physically or chemically damaged.
