Sodium Salicylate

Description

This ingredient is sodium salicylate and is derived from tree bark, such as willow. Benefits: This ingredient acts as a preservative in many cosmetic formulas. It is used to extend the shelf life of a product and to prevent the growth of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Sodium salicylate (BHA). Since this is not an acidic form of salicylate (i.e. salicylic acid), it does not have exfoliating properties.
