Description
Stearate" is a general term for salts or esters of stearic acid, a naturally occurring fatty acid. In cosmetic products, stearates (such as magnesium stearate, zinc stearate, glyceryl stearate, sodium stearate) are used as emulsifiers, stabilizers, thickeners, emollients, or texture agents. They improve the structure and stability of the product, facilitate application, reduce stickiness, and help create a homogeneous emulsion. They are also commonly used in decorative cosmetics (powders, eyeshadows, blushes) to improve glide.
