Description
Zinc is an important mineral that is necessary for many healthy functions of the body, including strengthening the immune system, healing wounds, helping with synthesis and growth of DNA/protein, and development of children. Sulfate of zinc is a white crystalline powder that dissolves well in water. It has binding and antimicrobial properties. In oil-in-water emulsions, which are designed for skin care, the salt acts as a stabilizing component. Zinc is one of two physical solar filters that are able to deflect ultraviolet rays, protecting the skin from the harmful effects of solar radiation, such as erythema and premature aging.
