Description

White powder with a characteristic smell. It is used as a preservative. Effective against fungi, and gram-positive bacteria, weakly effective against gram-negative bacteria. Typically, this chemical will be included in creams and serums with other parabens such as butylparaben and propylparaben, although in some cases it can be used alone. Given the way methylparaben prevents the growth of fungus in cream formulas, it has the ability to preserve ingredients and help consumers get the most out of their cosmetic purchases. The optimal pH is about 8. According to EU legislation 1223/2009 and TR TC 009/2011, it is allowed to be used in the maximum permissible concentration of 0.4% and the maximum total content of parabens -0.8%. In Japan, the maximum content of parabens in cosmetics is allowed - 1%.
