Description
Milk acid is an anti-aging and pigmentation-fighting ingredient found in both over-the-counter and professional skincare products. Derived from milk, milk acid belongs to a class of anti-aging ingredients called alpha-hydroxy acids. The compound of milk acid is extracted from sour milk. Chemical peels work using milk acid, as it removes the top layer of dead skin. Some stronger formulas can also penetrate into the middle layer of the skin (dermis). Despite the name, your skin isn't visibly "peeling" off. However, the effects are visible under the epidermis: smoother and brighter skin. Milk acid is specifically used to treat hyperpigmentation, age spots, and other factors that contribute to a dull and uneven complexion. Other benefits of milk acid include improving skin tone and reducing the appearance of pores. Milk acid is a better choice for sensitive skin.
