Description

Polyquaternium 10 is a water-soluble white granular powder that is widely used in hair care products for its antistatic and moisturizing properties. It is also considered film-forming, providing shine and coverage to strands of hair, easily absorbed by proteins. This is sometimes found in skin care products as well. A cationic conditioning ingredient that can have little to moderate build-up potential, depending on the source you turn to. It can be removed with an anionic (sulfate or olefinsulfonate) shampoo that does not contain polyquaternium. Often used in detangling shampoos. Can be used in hair styling products as it provides easy hold. Polyquaterniums are created with cationic (positive) charges, so they bind to your hair instead of just forming a passive film. It's good for hair that needs a strong film to hold or a slippery film to brush. But it's not helpful if the product builds up on your hair. Some people can use polyquaternium ingredients without problems, but some of us accumulate them.
